Freda Miriklis, Director, amge+ Advisory
Freda is an executive director with vast experience educating and supporting world leaders and CEOs to promote equality and economic opportunities that empower women globally.
She is an entrepreneur who has worked in the investment advisory industry for over twenty years and as market commentator in broadcast and print media. A sought after conference speaker and leader of international consortia promoting global commercial collaborations and alliances; Freda is involved in establishing sustainable investment frameworks and policies by creating commercial partnerships in the financial services sector. She is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FinSia), Master Stockbroker with the Stockbrokers Association of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).
Freda served as the 22nd President of BPW International (2011-2014) and has driven BPW International’s involvement with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), the World Bank, Women’s Empowerment Principles: Equality Means Business (WEPs); Equal Pay Day campaigns (EPD), the ITC’s Global Platform for Action on Sourcing from Women Vendors. She oversaw key resources and projects in line with BPW International’s Integrated Strategy Roadmap and developed the organisation's first Sustainability Report - Fulfilling the Legacy.
She served as a main representative to the United Nations in New York and Geneva where BPW International has held consultative status since 1947 and represented BPW International, Commonwealth Businesswomen and Australia at numerous global meetings, including those at or facilitated by the United Nations and Commonwealth Secretariat. In 2014 she was invited by the President of the UN General Assembly to address the ECOSOC Chamber on a high level event focused on the contributions of women, the young and civil society to the Post 2015 Development Agenda. In 2016 she addressed the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment in relation to strategies of private sector engagement.
Freda is a director of The Hellenic Initiative (Aust) and co-chair of Commonwealth Business Women (CBW) in London and represents CBW on the Advisory Board of the UN Women and UN Global Compact, Women’s Empowerment Principles Leadership Group (WEPs LG) and is a member of the WEPs CEO Leadership Awards committee.
